City of Rockledge

City of Rockledge

Built on the Indian River Lagoon’s unique coquina rock ledge, Brevard’s oldest city was incorporated on August 7, 1887. With almost 26,000 residents, Rockledge’s 11.5 square miles include an Interstate I-95 interchange with three major north-south roadways (U.S. 1, Fiske Boulevard (SR 519) and Murrell Road). The City has just completed an $8 million streetscape and infrastructure improvement project on Barton Boulevard, which is the commercial heart of the city.

Rockledge operates a Council-Manager form of government and has had only two city managers in over 40 years. The community is well known for its political stability. As a full service community, Rockledge provides law enforcement, fire and advanced medical life support, solid waste and recycling collection, building services, wastewater and water reclamation, stormwater management, and a Public Works Department. Home to three distinct industrial areas, the city contains numerous commercial centers, Wuesthoff Hospital, six public schools, three private schools, and many places of worship. The spirit of community is the greatest asset of the City of Rockledge.
