More than a half million people call the Space Coast home, and more than one quarter million are in the workforce, with just over 45 percent of the population between ages of 20 and 54. Of those over 25, Almost 90 percent have a high school diploma or higher, 28 percent hold at least a bachelor’s degree, and slightly more than 11 percent earned graduate degrees. The median household income was just over $49,000, with about 28 percent at an income of $75,000 or more.
Single and two person households with no children make up about 70 percent of homes in Brevard County. Palm Bay in the south part of the county is the largest municipality by population, followed by Melbourne and Titusville. Melbourne Village is the smallest at about 700 people. Almost 10 percent of Brevard residents are black and more than 6 percent are Hispanic.
