FCAT
- Brevard was in the top ten in the state in each of the 22 areas of assessment on the standard statewide exams given students each year.
- 10th graders led the state in the writing exam in 2006.
- Brevard’s 5th grade and 11th grade students ranked first in Florida for science the past three years.
- Brevard’s sixth grade students have ranked first in math for seven consecutive years.

- For 2005, the students had higher SAT scores than any other Florida School District.
Brevard County Schools Rankings
- The School Bus Fleet trade publication named the Brevard County School Bus System among the top ten in North America for 2005.
Employment
- AARP ranked the school district number 8 on the 2005 list of Best Employers for Workers Over 50. It was the only public-school system and the highest-ranked Florida employer on the national list.
- BPS received the 2007 Governor’s Sterling Award for being a role model in organizational performance excellence.
High School
- In 2005 and 2006, Newsweek ranked Cocoa Beach High School among the top 100 U.S. high schools (out of 21,000) in part due to its International Baccalaureate program.
- A team comprised of Brevard high school students stood second in the world in the robotics world championship in 2007.
- Brevard leads the state in the number of high school students dual enrolled in secondary and college courses.
- Brevard ranked first in the number of students enrolled in Early Admissions.
- In 2008, Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School was one of only two schools in Brevard County, and one of 320 schools nationwide, to receive a 2008 No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon School designation.
Elementary Schools
- In 2006, the District had 5 of the top 10 Elementary Schools in the state, according to the Florida Dept. of Education.
- To get hands-on learning experience about science, the local environment and math, all fourth-graders are given the opportunity to participate in a one day field trip to the Indian River Lagoon, one of the most diverse estuaries in North America.
- In 2008, Freedom 7 Elementary School was one of only two schools in Brevard County, and one of 320 schools nationwide, to receive a 2008 No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon School designation.
Community Involvement
- One of 27 schools districts in the nation to receive the 2007 Civic Star Award for Hurricane Katrina relief to Jackson County Schools in Mississippi.
- Home to 20 of Florida’s 28 Music Demonstrations Schools.¼LI>BPS employees raised more than $279,000 for the United Way.
