United Service Source, Inc. Expands Company Headquarters in Melbourne, Florida
Brevard County, Florida – In concert with the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast’s goal of creating 2, 250 new jobs in three years, we are pleased to announce United Service Source, Inc. (USSI), a commercial and residential communication technical services provider, has chosen to expand in Melbourne, Florida.  After the recent acquisition of Ascent Media’s Palm Bay business unit, USSI will expand into a 17,000 square foot facility to allow for more office space and a new technical operations center.  The expansion represents a significant investment that will allow the company to increase its workforce by 27%, adding 30 new employees.

The expansion is expected to create 30 net new jobs at an average annual wage of $45,000 with a direct impact of $1.35M and a total economic impact of over $2.8M. Total capital investment for the project is over $4.3M.

In April 2009, the EDC began working to secure USSI’s expansion on the Space Coast, managing the incentive process, facilitating small business assistance and providing supplementary workforce information. The company cited Brevard County as its choice due to the skilled labor pool, central location, and the capability to integrate various corporate functions.  Company officials also considered expanding in Dallas, Texas.

“With a total economic impact of over $2.8M, USSI’s expansion represents a significant boost to the Space Coast economy,” said Lynda Weatherman, president and chief executive officer, Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast.  “USSI’s expansion is a solid testament to not only the strength of our local communications cluster, but also our highly skilled workforce.”

To secure USSI’s expansion, the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast partnered with Enterprise Florida, the state’s principal economic development organization. "USSI’s choice to expand its operations on the Space Coast is a major win for Florida,” said John Adams Jr., president & CEO of Enterprise Florida.  "It shows that we’re maintaining a business climate that fosters the growth of companies in our targeted information technology sector, providing the talent and jobs required for tomorrow’s economy."

Founded in 1985, USSI, a Brevard County based corporation, began operations with 4 employees in a 2,500 square foot facility.  USSI now employs 110 people and has 2 locations including company headquarters in Melbourne, Florida.  The company is recognized globally as a market leader not only for their knowledge and expertise, but also for their remarkable client service.  Beyond the proposed expansion, USSI is expected to continue on its current growth curve reaching 140 full time employees by 2011.
“USSI is excited to have an opportunity to grow during this challenging economic climate.  Most importantly, we feel very fortunate to celebrate our expansion with the Space Coast community.  We look forward to further opportunities as technology in the communications industry continues to evolve and USSI maintains its position as the single source provider for system integration and maintenance for multiple communication systems including VSAT satellite systems, LAN/WAN, and digital media systems,” said David S. Christiano, president of USSI.

About USSI – USSI provides field maintenance and system integration for multiple technology markets including commercial communication systems, government weather and consumer sites, digital media and broadcast host locations.  USSI services and installs all aspects of VSAT satellite systems, Local Area Networks / Wide Area Networks, POS and private commercial Digital Media systems.
