Brevard Chorale
Started in 1966 by Dr. Tom Whiteside, Brevard Chorale has been bringing people of every age, life experience and vocal background together to sing for the pure joy of singing. Since then, the Brevard Chorale has had several conductors, including Larry Boye, Mark Hanson, Claire Baggarly and Vern Boushell. Membership is made up of males and females; voices range from first soprano to bass. They perform three or four concerts each year.
Brevard Community Chorus and Orchestra This high-quality organization brings together more than 100 voices in concert with professional musicians for music by Beethoven, Handel and Mozart. Performances are at the King Center for the Performing Arts.
Brevard Symphony Orchestra
Conducted by Christopher Confessore, this 47-year-old organization and 100-plus-member professional orchestra offers six symphonic concerts at the 2,000-seat King Center for the Performing Arts in Melbourne. Free concerts include the Fourth of July at Front Street Park in Melbourne, holidays and an autumn family event.
Space Coast Chorus
The chorus performs one big show a year with the Greater Canaveral Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society and smaller concerts throughout the season.
Space Coast Jazz Society (321) 632-4420 / (321) 453-4191 The society meets in the afternoon second Sundays for live jazz performances, at the Cocoa Beach Country Club. Annual events include a picnic, Christmas Party and benefit. The group awards scholarships to Brevard students studying jazz in college.
Space Coast Ballet
Run by former soloists of the Kirov Ballet in Russia, this professional ballet company presents an annual “Nutcracker” in December and a spring production featuring international dance stars and the Brevard Symphony Orchestra at the King Center for the Performing Arts.
